Olivia & James

Under one sky, with our families

We met at a telescope on a friend's roof in Los Angeles — Olivia knew the constellations, James knew how to focus the lens. By the time Saturn swam into view we'd stopped looking at the sky and started planning a drive to the desert.

Six Septembers later, the desert is still where we go to hear ourselves think. James proposed out past the ranch gate, at the hour the first stars come out. So that's where we'll stand, at that same hour, with all of you around us.

The sky does most of the decorating. We're just providing dinner and the reason.

Notes for guests

Field Notes

01What should we wear?

Desert formal — whatever that means to you, plus a real layer. It can drop thirty degrees after sunset. The ground is sand and stone, so leave the stilettos and bring boots or flats.

02Can I bring a plus-one?

Your invitation names everyone we've saved a chair for. If you're unsure about your party, write to us — we'd rather answer than have you guess.

03Are kids invited?

We love them, but this one's adults only — it's a late night, a long way from town, and the fire pits stay lit.

04What if the weather turns?

September here is dry and warm. If the wind kicks up, everything moves into the ranch house — we'll still be under skylights.

05When do you need our RSVP?

By August 1, 2026, please. Headcounts out here are hard-won — every early answer helps.
