The route here
Up the pass, then home.

We met under the eave of the Jenny Lake ranger station, both waiting out the same July squall. Olivia trusted the forecast; James trusted the sky. The sky won, and we hiked out together on a trail neither of us had planned.
Six summers later, the valley is our fixed point on the map. James proposed on Paintbrush Divide, a half hour ahead of the weather. So that's where we're headed — one weekend, one route, a lodge with the fires lit at the end.
It's a simple route: up the pass, down to the lodge, stay for the last light.
