Artist statement

On the same wall.

We met at a group show on Calle Havre — Olivia there for the painter, James there for the free mezcal. We argued about the only red canvas in the room and left before the speeches, still arguing, all the way to the taquería.

Seven years later we still measure this city in openings — which rooms ran hot, who bought what, where the flash photos ended up. James proposed in front of that same red canvas, on loan again. So this is our opening night.

No art on the walls this time — just everyone we love in one room.

Tonight's programme

One evening.
Every part of it.

  1. Ceremony

    Casa Copal · Sala Uno

Vows in the main room, under the wall vinyl with our names on it. Doors open at 4:30.

  2. Mezcal Hour

    The Courtyard

Espadín and sangrita, tostadas passed on trays, a DJ warming up the back room.

  3. Dinner

    The Back Gallery

One long table down the middle of the gallery, family-style. Toasts encouraged.

  4. Dancing

    The Annex

Direct flash, loud cumbia, red light. We dance until the house lights come up.

Questions from the floor

Before you arrive.

What should I wear?

Opening-night dress code: dark, saturated, a little sharp. The rooms run warm once they fill, so choose layers you can shed. Floors are polished concrete, so heels are safe.

Can I bring a plus-one?

Your invitation names everyone on the guest list — think of it as the wall label for your party. If you have a question about who's included, write to us.

Are kids welcome?

We adore your kids, but between the mezcal, the flash, and the late hour, this opening is adults-only.

What's the plan for weather?

September is rainy season in the city, so the whole night is indoors — the courtyard is covered, and rain sounds good on the skylight.

When should I RSVP by?

Please reply by August 1, 2026 — the guest wall vinyl goes to print that week, and we want your name on it.
